Alexander Armstrong is an English comedian, actor, television presenter, and bass-baritone singer. He is best known as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller, which produced four series, including The Armstrong and Miller Show. In 2020, he took over from John Suchet to host Classic FM's flagship weekday mid-morning programme. He is a regular on the BBC series Have I Got News For You, having hosted over 40 episodes, and he presents the popular quiz show Pointless on BBC1.
Recently, he gained recognition as a travel presenter with the series Alexander Armstrong on Channel 5, where he explored locations such as Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Iceland. In 2019, he appeared in the film adaptation of Horrible Histories: The Movie, Rotten Romans, alongside Nick Frost and Kim Cattrall. That same year, he toured the UK with his one-man stage show, All Mouth and Some Trousers, reflecting his career experiences.
Following the success of the BAFTA-nominated show The Real Full Monty in 2018, he returned for the third series of The All-New Monty 2019: Who Bares Wins, working with Ashley Banjo to raise awareness of cancers in intimate areas. He also presented The Classic BRIT Awards with Myleene Klass and launched ITV's The Imitation Game, a comedy panel show featuring top impressionists.
In 2024, he will publish his debut children's novel, Evenfall: The Golden Linnet, the first in the Evenfall series. Alexander is popular on the corporate circuit for awards hosting, after-dinner speaking, and PR campaigns. He and Richard Osman have created a bespoke pub-style quiz, Best Quiz Ever!, for events.
