Andrew Rawnsley is a speaker, commentator, presenter, conference leader, journalist, and author known for analysing politics and current events. Born and raised in England, Rawnsley studied at Cambridge University, where he began his career in journalism, writing for the university's Social Democrats newsletter and later becoming editor of their newspaper, Stop Press. Rawnsley won the Guardian Student Journalist Of The Year Award in 1984 and joined the Guardian as their principal parliamentary sketch writer in 1987. In 1993, he moved to The Observer as their Chief Political Commentator and Associate Editor. Rawnsley has presented various shows and documentaries as a broadcaster, including co-hosting Channel 4's A Week in Politics with Vincent Hanna and anchoring BBC Radio 4's Westminster Hour. He has also written and presented political documentaries for Channel 4, which are featured in the current affairs series Dispatches. Rawnsley's work has earned him accolades such as the British Press Awards Young Journalist Of The Year (1987), What The Papers Say Columnist Of The Year (2000), Channel 4 Political Awards Book Of The Year (2001), Channel 4 Political Awards Journalist Of The Year (2003), House Magazine Awards Commentator Of The Year (2008), and the Chair's Choice Award at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards (2015). He also became a Fellow Of The Royal Society Of Arts in 2001. In addition to his journalistic pursuits, Rawnsley has authored several books, including "Servants Of The People: The Inside Story Of New Labour," a top ten best-seller in both hardcover and paperback, and "The End Of The Party: The Rise And Fall Of New Labour". Today, Rawnsley continues to be a sought-after keynote speaker and conference leader, sharing his expertise and insights into politics and current events.
