BlogLoginGet in TouchEddie Edwards, also known as Eddie 'the Eagle', is a British skier and Olympic speaker. He was the first Briton to compete in the Olympic ski jumping challenge. Despite facing numerous setbacks and failures, Eddie's determination and resilience have made him a popular and successful sports speaker. He has toured the globe, sharing his story of determination and failure in a brilliantly comedic and inspirational manner. Eddie's popularity even inspired the instigation of the Eagle Rule for Olympic qualifications. In addition to his speaking engagements, Eddie has made various media appearances and was the subject of the biographical sports film "Eddie the Eagle."
Eddie competed in the 70m and 90m events during the Games but unfortunately came last in both.
During the Winter Games closing ceremony, the Organising Committee President, Frank King, singled out Eddie “At these Games, some competitors have won gold, some have broken records, and some of you have even soared like an eagle.”
