Dr. Elin Haf Davies is a Children's Nurse with a passion for extreme challenges and adventure. She uses these experiences to raise awareness about rare childhood disorders and the need for new drugs. In 2015, she co-founded aparito, a company that uses wearable technology and smartphone apps to revolutionize patient monitoring and empower individuals to take control of their own health. Elin has an impressive track record of extreme challenges, including being the first Welsh woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean in 2007 and being part of the world's first all-female crew to row across the Indian Ocean in 2009. She also sailed 6,000 miles across the north Pacific as part of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in 2012. Elin's adventures have raised over £250,000 for charities close to her heart.
She is committed to combining her passion for adventure with improving children's health. Elin has also worked as a scientific advisor for the European Medicine Agency, contributing to the development of drugs for children. She has written books about her experiences, including "Ar Fôr Tymhestlog" (2011) and "On Tempestuous Seas" (2012). "On Tempestuous Seas" set a record for the highest number of books sold in one night at the National Geographic Store in London. Elin's next challenge is to circumnavigate the globe solo and without assistance as part of the Vendee Globe, and she is currently seeking a sponsor for this endeavour.
