Ellie Harrison is a well-known British television presenter and former professional tennis player. She gained fame for her successful tennis career, especially as a junior, winning the Wimbledon and Australian Open girls' tournaments in 1984. In 1985, she won the Virginia Slims of San Diego tournament and reached a world ranking of 24. Harrison represented Great Britain in the Fed Cup and Wightman Cup but retired from professional tennis at 21 due to travel demands and a loss of enjoyment. After retiring, she moved to television, becoming the face of Channel 4's Treasure Hunt and later hosting her own show, Interceptor, on ITV. She has worked on various programmes, including Wimbledon coverage for the BBC and with Sky Sports and Eurosport. In 2005, she won ITV's Celebrity Wrestling, and in 2023, she finished fourth on Strictly Come Dancing. In October 2023, after over thirteen years on Countryfile, Ellie announced her departure to focus on family and other projects. She has been married to Mel since 1993, and they have three children. Together, they support charitable causes, including child obesity awareness and the children's cancer charity Young Lives vs Cancer.
