Fredrik Erixon

Fredrik Erixon is a Swedish economist and writer, currently serving as the Director of the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE). He received his education at the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, and Uppsala University. Erixon has made significant contributions to the field of international economics, trade, and policy throughout his career. Erixon began his professional journey as an economist in the Prime Minister's Office in Sweden. He later worked at the World Bank and JP Morgan as an emerging market analyst. Prior to founding ECIPE in 2006 with Professor Razeen Sally, he advised the British government and held the position of Chief Economist at Timbro. Under his leadership, ECIPE has become one of Brussels' leading research-based institutes. 

In addition to his role at ECIPE, Erixon is an accomplished author and researcher. He has written books and conducted studies on economic policy, international economics, and regulatory affairs. His work covers welfare reforms, healthcare, competition policy, social capital's role in economic growth, global monetary policy, and the impact of technology on the economy. Erixon has advised governments worldwide and is a frequent speaker at conferences. He also contributes articles to international newspapers and magazines. 

Before joining ECIPE, Erixon gained experience in development policy, financial markets, business consulting, and academia. Erixon's influence in economics is globally recognized, and in 2010, the Financial Times named him one of Brussels' 30 most influential people. His research interests include international economics, European relations with Asia and North America, trade and regulatory policy, philosophy, and technological change. He is working on a book titled "Saving Liberalism for the 21st Century," which examines challenges to the open society from populism and other ideologies.
