Martine Wright MBE is a British sitting volleyball player and inspirational speaker. Born in London, she lost both legs in the Aldgate underground explosion during the 7/7 London bombings in 2005. Following this traumatic event, Martine rebuilt her life, achieving significant milestones such as skydiving, obtaining her pilot's licence, and becoming a wife and mother. She also captained the British Paralympic Sitting Volleyball team.
After the bombings, Martine advocated for improved compensation for victims and their families and served as an ambassador for disabled sports. Her recovery journey included playing wheelchair tennis before transitioning to sitting volleyball, where she made her international debut in 2010. In 2012, she represented Great Britain’s women’s sitting volleyball team at the Summer Paralympics.
