Nicholas Hewer is a retired English TV presenter, company director, and former PR consultant. He attended Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare, Ireland, before moving to London in the 1960s. Hewer began his career as a PR consultancy trainee and quickly advanced to a board member. At 26, he bought out the owner, becoming the sole shareholder of his PR company, which was acquired by Amstrad in 1983. He spent 21 years in the Amstrad management group before retiring in 1998.
In 2005, Hewer joined the British TV series "The Apprentice" as Alan Sugar's adviser, a role he held until 2014. He also presented the Channel 4 programme "Countdown" from 2012 to 2021, working alongside Rachel Riley and Susie Dent. Hewer has been involved in campaigns advocating for changes in the UK pension scheme and has collaborated with companies such as Vista Print and Bark.com. A supporter of the Labour Party, he authored "My Alphabet: A Life from A to Z," published in 2011.
