Adam Yates is a British professional road and track racing cyclist. He was introduced to cycling by his father, who took him and his twin brother Simon to the Manchester Velodrome. After their father’s accident, the twins continued with their cycling club, Bury Clarion. While Simon joined the British Cycling Olympic Academy, Adam focused on road racing in France, supported by the Dave Rayner Fund.
Adam began his professional career with a strong performance in the 2013 Tour de l'Avenir, finishing second overall and winning a stage. In 2016, he made history by placing fourth in the Tour de France and winning the young rider classification, a feat later matched by Simon. Over his career, Adam has secured more than twenty victories, including overall wins at the 2021 Volta a Catalunya, the 2023 Tour de Romandie, and the 2024 Tour de Suisse. He also won a stage at the 2023 Tour de France and notable one-day races like the Clásica de San Sebastián in 2015 and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal in 2023.
Adam has represented Great Britain in numerous international competitions, finishing 15th in the road race at the 2016 Olympics and 9th in 2020. He is known for his team-oriented approach, often prioritising team success over personal accolades.
