Alice Temperley is a well-known British fashion designer and the founder of Temperley London. She studied at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and earned a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art, focusing on fabric technology and print. In 1999, she was named English Print Designer of the Year. After her studies, Alice worked as a consultant for Ratti in Como before starting her own label, Temperley London, in 2000 during London Fashion Week. The brand quickly became popular, leading to the opening of its first boutique in Notting Hill in 2001. By 2004, her designs gained international recognition, and she received Elle Magazine's Best Young Designer of the Year Award. In 2006, Temperley London was sold in over 150 retail stores worldwide, and Alice was recognized as one of Britain’s top 35 female business leaders. In 2002, she launched Temperley Bridal, focusing on timeless bridal designs inspired by romantic aesthetics. This line has become a key part of the brand, with exclusive salons in London and Los Angeles. In 2010, she introduced ‘Alice by Temperley,’ a line aimed at a younger audience with more casual offerings. Alice was appointed an MBE in 2011 for her contributions to fashion and is a member of the British Fashion Council Advisory Board. She is also involved with various charitable organizations, including Women for Women International. In 2023, Temperley London sold a majority stake to Times Square Group and Luxutte Capital, while Alice remains the creative director. The brand plans to expand into bags, shoes, ready-to-wear, accessories, and swimwear. Alice is committed to sustainable fashion, promoting slow fashion and responsible practices. Her designs are popular among many celebrities, including Pippa and Keira.
