Andy Boynton is the Dean of Boston College's Carroll School of Management. He graduated from Boston College and earned his MBA and PhD from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before his current role, Andy was a Professor of Strategy at IMD in Switzerland for over ten years, where he directed a top Executive Global MBA program. He has also taught at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business and the Darden School of Business. As Dean, Andy collaborates with faculty to improve teaching and research at the Carroll School, which is consistently ranked among the top management schools in the U.S. His research focuses on innovation, leadership, and strategy, especially in areas where expertise offers a competitive advantage. His writings have appeared in prestigious journals, and his latest book, "The Idea Hunter," co-authored with Bill Fischer and William Bole, highlights innovation as an essential leadership skill. Andy is known for his expertise in team dynamics and problem-solving. He co-created the DeepDive™ methodology, which helps executives maximize team potential to improve problem-solving speed and innovation. He is a popular speaker, recognized for his engaging executive education sessions and workshops on leadership and teamwork. In addition to his academic work, Andy has been involved in university initiatives, including co-chairing a committee to update the undergraduate core curriculum at Boston College.
