Captain Anthony Harris began his military training at Sandhurst in September 2001, just two days before the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks. Despite this tragic timing, he persevered and was commissioned into The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in August 2002. Throughout his career, Captain Harris has fearlessly served in dangerous environments, including Belfast, Basra, and Afghanistan. However, in 2009, tragedy struck when he was severely injured by an IED, resulting in the amputation of his left leg below the knee.
Following his retirement from the army, Captain Harris focused his energy on creating a remarkable motor racing team called Race2Recovery. This unique team aims to provide injured soldiers with respite from their recovery process and the traumatic experiences of war. In their noble endeavors, they have managed to raise an impressive £115,000 for Help for Heroes and the Tedworth House Concept. Additionally, Captain Harris established Row2Recovery, a venture that raised over £1 million for Help for Heroes when six severely injured servicemen rowed across the Atlantic in January 2012.
Captain Harris is not only a remarkable individual but also a motivational speaker who utilizes his own story of overcoming adversity to inspire audiences. His achievements have gained him recognition nationally, and he has even made appearances on the renowned BBC motoring show, TopGear. With his unwavering enthusiasm and determination to succeed, Captain Harris serves as an inspiration for others to follow in his footsteps.
