Christopher Cox is a journalist, writer, and former Chief Product Officer at Facebook. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Cox studied at Harvard University and the University of Cambridge. He has contributed to publications such as The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Harper’s, Wired, and Slate. In 2020, he was recognized as a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and a visiting scholar at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
Cox has also held significant roles in media management, serving as the chief editor of Harper’s Magazine and the executive editor of GQ. Under his leadership, these publications received awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, the PEN Literary Award for Journalism, and multiple National Magazine Awards.
From 2005 to March 2019, Cox worked at Facebook, playing a crucial role in shaping its culture and values. He returned to the company in the summer of 2020 as the product chief.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Cox is involved with OneGoal, an organization dedicated to equal educational opportunities for students, particularly those from under-resourced backgrounds. He has also supported environmental start-ups like Planet, a satellite imagery company, and Watershed, a software developer focused on reducing businesses' carbon footprint.
