Christie Rampone is a celebrated American soccer player, speaker, and author. She grew up in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, excelling in basketball, track, field hockey, and soccer. Christie attended Monmouth University on a basketball scholarship but soon focused on soccer, becoming a standout player and record-holder for goals, assists, and points in a season. Christie made her international debut with the U.S. Women’s National Team in February 1997 and quickly became a key player, scoring her first goal against the Republic of Korea later that year. She was part of the U.S. team that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999 and earned three Olympic gold medals and one silver, making her the only female soccer player to win four Olympic medals. Appointed team captain in 2008, she led the team to multiple championships. Professionally, Christie played for New York Power, Sky Blue FC, and magicJack. In 2009, she led Sky Blue FC to a WPS championship as a player-coach. In 2015, she became the oldest woman to play in a FIFA World Cup final. Throughout her career, she rarely missed matches, aside from an ACL injury in 2001. Married to Chris since 2001, Christie has two daughters. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2021 and the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2015.
