He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the Royal Statistical Society, and the Royal Society of Arts, among other honours. An advocate for social justice, Danny supported Jeremy Corbyn during his leadership of the Labour Party. He has appeared in various media and authored influential books, including "Injustice: Why Social Inequality Persists" and "All That Is Solid: The Great Housing Disaster."
