After serving in the armed forces and pursuing his passion for mountaineering, Darren trained as a teacher before the accident that changed his life. Within days of leaving the hospital, he took up kayaking, which sparked a series of extraordinary expeditions. These included kayaking the length of Britain and becoming the first wheelchair user to complete the 777 Challenge - seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
