David O'Doherty is an Irish comedian, author, musician, actor, and playwright. He comes from a culturally rich family, with a jazz pianist father and a grandfather who was an Irish hurdles champion.
David studied philosophy at Trinity College Dublin, where he was involved in the Jazz Society and a fake Breakdancing Society. He started his comedy career in 1998 at Dublin's Comedy Cellar and gained early recognition with his show, "The Story of the Boy Who Saved Comedy," which was nominated for an award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2000. He won the So You Think You're Funny award in 1999 and was a runner-up in the BBC New Comedy Awards that same year.
Throughout his career, David has received many awards, including the if.comedy award in 2008 for "Let's Comedy" and the Best International Comedian award at the 2014 Sydney Comedy Festival. He is also a successful author, with his first book, "Ronan Long Gets It Wrong," published in 2001, along with children's books like "100 Facts About Pandas" and the "Danger Is Everywhere" series.
David has released several live audio albums, with his latest, "Live In His Own Car During A Pandemic," coming out in 2020. He has appeared on television, including his stand-up debut on BBC2’s "Live At The Apollo" in 2017, and has hosted his own series, "Along For The Ride With David O’Doherty."
Currently, David is touring his latest show, "Tiny Piano Man," in Ireland, following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He is known for his engaging storytelling and humor.
