Graham Thorpe | Speaker Biography

Graham Thorpe is a former English cricketer who is now available as an after-dinner speaker for corporate events and conferences. He is well-known in the cricket world for his skills as a left-handed middle-order batsman and slip fielder. Thorpe played for both the English national team and Surrey domestically. He also served as the batting coach for the 2019 Cricket World Cup-winning squad.

Thorpe's determination and drive led him to train himself to become a left-handed player, even though he is naturally right-handed. He made his domestic debut for Surrey in 1988 and his first international appearance for England in 1993. One of his early successes was scoring a century in his debut Test match against Australia.

Throughout his career, Thorpe played in 100 Test matches, 82 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 341 First-Class cricket matches. He was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1998 and achieved his highest Test score of 200 not out.

After retiring from international and domestic cricket, Thorpe became the batting coach for New South Wales and made a one-off appearance for UTS-Balmain in the Sydney First Grade. He was also an assistant coach for New South Wales and received an MBE for his services to cricket.

In addition to his coaching career, Thorpe has worked in the media as a commentator for BBC Radio's Test Match Special program and Sky Sport's News. He has also written for UK cricket magazine, SPIN World Cricket Monthly.

As an after-dinner speaker, Thorpe shares his incredible career anecdotes with charm and humor. He can captivate audiences of all backgrounds, even those with little interest in cricket. To hire Graham Thorpe for your next event, please contact PepTalk.
