Dr. James Doty is a renowned neurosurgeon and philanthropist. He is the Founder and Director of the Stanford Medicine Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). With expertise in brain tumor treatment, stereotactic radio surgery, and spine surgery, Dr. Doty has been recognized as one of 'America's Top Surgeons' and 'Best Doctors in America'. He established CCARE, previously known as 'Project Compassion', after a visit from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2005. Dr. Doty's book, 'Into the Magic Shop', is a New York Times bestseller that explores the transformative power of mindfulness and compassion. As a philanthropist, he has supported healthcare projects in developing countries and donated to the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Doty serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and is a Senior Advisor to the Council of the Parliament of the World's Religions. He is also a former Vice Chair of the Charter for Compassion.
