Jamie Baulch's biography

At a glance

  • Silver Medalist in 4x400m at 1996 Olympic Games
  • World Indoor Champion in 400m, 1999
  • Presenter and Documentary Frontman on Adoption for BBC One

Jamie Baluch enjoyed a career spanning 15 years at the top of world-class athletics. His talent was spotted at a young age, with the star bursting onto the Team GB scene in 1991, winning the 200m in Spain.

In his first year competing over 400m, he was selected for the 1996 Olympic Games and won Silver as part of the 4x400m quartet. He became the World Indoor Champion in 1999 and still holds the British Indoor record over 400m, set in 1997.

Jamie’s jet-fueled career on the track saw him win 11 medals at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, and Commonwealth Games.

Since retiring, Jamie has been a popular presenter and guest on numerous programmes, and he has also fronted a documentary about adoption for BBC One. The emotional film saw Jamie go in search of his birth mother, with a bittersweet ending that captured the hearts of all those watching and made national headlines.

Jamie repeated the journey for the BBC and went in search of his biological father, uncovering more about the black Jamaican community and culture than he ever anticipated.

If you’re looking for a double espresso of motivation and inspiration or tips on fostering a winner mentality, then it’s time you got in the fast lane and levelled up with Jamie.

Something we've not covered here?

How do I book Jamie Baulch for my next event?

Email jamie.baulch@getapeptalk.com or call PepTalk on +44 20 3835 2929 (UK) or +1 737 888 5112 (US), and one of our speaker agents will contact you within hours to confirm Jamie's availability and fees. If you can, please include your budget upfront – it helps us fast-track your request. It’s also helpful to know the date, format (virtual or in-person), location, and a bit about your audience.

What is Jamie Baulch's speaking style like?

Jamie Baulch draws on his athletic career and personal documentary work to frame talks around performance mindset and resilience, using his experience searching for his birth parents — as featured in two BBC One documentaries — as a narrative thread to illustrate identity, perseverance, and self-discovery.

What topics does Jamie Baulch specialise in?

Jamie Baulch speaks on high performance, Olympic competition, goal setting, and personal identity through his BBC One adoption documentaries. He is a World Indoor 400m Champion (1999) and 1996 Olympic Silver medallist, holding the British Indoor 400m record set in 1997.

Does PepTalk charge a booking fee?

No. PepTalk adds no booking fee, so you pay the speaker's fee and nothing beyond it. The service, from shortlist through to contracts and event-day logistics, is included. For repeat or multi-event bookings, PepTalk can agree preferential rates with your procurement team.

What happens after I send a brief?

Share your event date, audience, format, objectives and budget, and PepTalk sends a hand-picked shortlist within 24 hours. Each suggestion comes with a profile, a fee and a recommendation on the strongest fit. Once you choose, PepTalk handles contracts, travel and logistics through to event day.

What does the typical fee range mean?

The typical fee range is the speaker's standard in-person fee in their home market, shown in their local currency. It moves with format, location, date and session length: virtual sessions and shorter slots usually cost less, while international travel and peak dates cost more. Send your brief to PepTalk and the team will confirm the exact fee in your currency.

Have all the speakers on the website worked with PepTalk before?

Not all of them, and it makes no difference to your booking. PepTalk's network of 15,000+ speakers covers talent the team works with directly alongside speakers represented by agents and agencies worldwide. PepTalk approaches the speaker, negotiates the fee and handles contracting either way.

How far in advance should I book a speaker?

Three to six months ahead is comfortable for most events, and 12 months is better for large conferences, peak-season dates or one specific in-demand speaker. Shorter timelines are workable, and PepTalk regularly fills last-minute and replacement bookings within days. Availability is the constraint, so get in touch as soon as you have a date.
