Jason Manford is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and presenter from Salford, Lancashire. He began his career in 1999 at the Buzz Comedy Club in Manchester, stepping in for a missing performer at just 17. Shortly after, he won The City Life North West Comedian of the Year. In 2005, he was nominated for the Perrier Award for his show ‘Urban Legends’ and gained fame as a team captain on Channel 4’s ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ in 2007.
His UK tours in 2008 and 2009, along with performances on ‘Live at the Apollo’ and ‘The Royal Variety Performance’, solidified his status as a national comic. He hosted ITV’s ‘Show Me The Funny’ and created ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ for BBC One. In 2010, he toured with ‘I’m Turning Into My Dad’ and later with ‘Off On Tour We Go: Jason Manford Live’.
Jason showcased his singing talent on ‘Born To Shine’ and toured with Alfie Boe. He starred in the West End musical ‘Sweeney Todd’ and hosted ‘Funny Old Year’ on New Year’s Eve 2013. His ‘First World Problems’ tour in 2013 included over 200 shows and a DVD release in 2014.
In 2014, he appeared in the drama ‘Not Like This, Like That’ and hosted ‘A Question of Sport: Super Saturday’. He has made guest appearances on shows like ‘QI’ and ‘Lip Sync Battle UK’. In 2015, he starred in ‘The Producers’ and the BBC drama ‘Ordinary Lies’, earning a nomination for Best Actor.
Jason launched his radio show on Absolute Radio, which has received high ratings. He hosted various shows, including ‘Bigheads’ and ‘The Money Pit’, and released his debut album in 2017. His ‘Muddle Class’ tour began in 2018, followed by roles in ‘Guys and Dolls’ and ‘Scarborough’.
In 2020, he hosted several online events during the pandemic and returned to television with ‘Unbeatable’. He continues to perform and engage in various projects, including charity work and hosting events. Jason supports Manchester City FC and draws inspiration from comedians like Billy Connolly.
