Advocate for inclusive educational environments
Author of The First Five: A Love Letter to Teachers
Patrick Harris II is an award-winning educator and storyteller who transforms how we support marginalized children through powerful narratives and practical strategies. His mission centers on amplifying the voices of students at the margins and empowering the educators who serve them.

Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communications and Digital Strategy from the University of Oklahoma. He unapologetically identifies as Black and Queer.

As Dean of Students and English teacher in Metro Detroit, Patrick has earned recognition on the International Literacy Association's 2021 30 under 30 list. His debut book, "The First Five: A Love Letter to Teachers," offers crucial guidance for educators navigating their early career challenges. Patrick hosted the Common Sense Podcast, which garnered over 100,000 downloads by sharing authentic educator experiences.

Patrick's interdisciplinary approach combines educational expertise with strategic communication to address critical issues in today's classrooms. He provides actionable frameworks for creating inclusive learning environments, developing culturally responsive teaching practices, and sustaining educator wellbeing amid systemic challenges. His insights have been featured in Education Week, CNN, GQ, and Huffington Post.

Audiences leave Patrick's presentations with practical tools for building stronger student-teacher relationships, strategies for supporting students from diverse backgrounds, and renewed purpose in their educational practice. His authentic storytelling creates meaningful connections that inspire lasting change.
