Susan Goldsworthy OLY is an Affiliate Professor of Leadership, Communications, and Organisational Change. A former Olympic finalist and award-winning writer, she has over 20 years of corporate experience with large multinationals. Susan integrates insights from sport, business, and neuroscience into her leadership development work, focusing on adapting leadership styles for an uncertain world. She collaborates with individuals and organisations to translate knowledge into behaviour, fostering conditions for high performance. Susan advocates for a shift from traditional leadership models of ‘power over’ to ‘power with’, promoting inclusivity and collaboration across departments, industries, and cultures. She has held senior management roles in publicly and privately owned companies across Japan, America, and Europe, specialising in global communications, culture, brand management, and diversity initiatives. For over a decade, she has successfully run her own business in leadership development and executive coaching, providing expert guidance on creating clear narratives and a culture of sustainable performance. She challenges the notion that leadership is a lonely pursuit, emphasising the importance of co-creating environments where individuals can thrive. Susan holds numerous postgraduate qualifications, including one of the first Executive Masters in the Neuroscience of Leadership. Her doctoral research at Hult Ashridge International Business School examined leaders' responsibilities in fostering hope and agency. Before her academic career, Susan was an accomplished swimmer, achieving Olympic finalist status and holding British records. She has co-authored three award-winning books, including "Where the Wild Things Were," which addresses leadership and biodiversity loss. Susan works with various multinational clients, and her collaboration with SITA earned a gold award in the 2021 Chief Learning Officer Learning in Practice Awards. She is Co-Director of IMD’s Executive Coaching Certificate and Programme Director of the Leading Sustainable Change programme. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Institute of Data & Marketing and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the International Coaching Federation.
