February 2027 packs a lot into a short month. Black History Month runs across the US and Canada, LGBT+ History Month runs in the UK, Ramadan begins, and the calendar carries awareness days on cancer, mental health, online safety, women in science and social justice.

Sport dominates the middle of the month, and Valentine's Day 2027 is unusually busy: Super Bowl LXI and the Six Nations meeting of England and France both land on 14 February. Here's PepTalk's guide to the cultural highlights of February 2027.

February 2027 – Month-long Observances

  • Black History Month (US & Canada) | February 2027 Recognises and celebrates the achievements and contributions of Black people throughout history. Broadcaster and diversity campaigner June Sarpong is one of PepTalk's most-booked speakers for the month, and our Black History Month speakers page has more options.
  • LGBT+ History Month (UK) | February 2027 Promotes education, visibility and celebration of LGBT+ history and culture in the UK. Pair it with a session from PepTalk's diversity and inclusion speakers.

February 2027 – Key Dates

  • World Cancer Day | 4 February 2027 A global awareness day uniting efforts in cancer prevention, detection and treatment.
  • Time to Talk Day (UK) | 4 February 2027 The UK's biggest mental health conversation, held on the first Thursday of February and built around making space to talk openly at work, at school and at home. Mental health campaigner Natasha Devon is a regular fixture for organisations marking the day, and PepTalk's mental health speakers page has more options.
  • Chinese New Year | 6 February 2027 The start of the Year of the Fire Goat, opening a 15-day Spring Festival that closes with the Lantern Festival. A natural moment for organisations marking cultural celebration and reflection.
  • Ramadan begins | 8 February 2027 The Islamic holy month of fasting, prayer and reflection, running to around 9 March and ending with Eid al-Fitr. Dates depend on the sighting of the moon, so confirm locally before fixing anything to the day. Worth planning around for meeting times, catering and flexible working through the month.
  • Safer Internet Day | 9 February 2027 Promotes safer and more responsible use of digital technology, especially among children and young people.
  • Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) | 9 February 2027 The day before Lent begins, marked in the UK with pancakes and, in some towns, pancake races.
  • International Day of Women and Girls in Science | 11 February 2027 Celebrates the role of women and girls in STEM and promotes gender equality in science and technology. Anne-Marie Imafidon and Sue Black both bring first-hand experience of building women's representation in technology.
  • Valentine's Day | 14 February 2027 A global celebration of love and affection, with traditions varying across cultures. In 2027 it shares the date with both Super Bowl LXI and the Six Nations meeting of England and France.
  • Random Acts of Kindness Day | 17 February 2027 Encourages spontaneous acts of generosity and kindness, and an easy one to build an internal campaign around.
  • World Day of Social Justice | 20 February 2027 Promotes fair treatment, equality and social justice worldwide.
  • International Mother Language Day | 21 February 2027 UNESCO's day celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity and promoting multilingual education.
  • Rare Disease Day | 28 February 2027 Marked on the last day of February, raising awareness of the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare condition and what better diagnosis and support would change.

February 2027 – Sporting Highlights

  • Six Nations (Rugby Union) | from 5 February 2027 Europe's premier rugby championship opens on Friday 5 February with Ireland against England at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and runs through to Super Saturday on 13 March. England meet France on Sunday 14 February. Take a look at our rugby speakers and after-dinner speakers for the season.
  • Super Bowl LXI | 14 February 2027 The NFL season finale at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and the first Super Bowl to be played on Valentine's Day.

Book a speaker for February's awareness days

February is the busiest month in the diversity and inclusion calendar, and the dates that matter most tend to book out early. June Sarpong brings years of broadcasting and campaigning on race and representation, and works well for a whole-organisation Black History Month session.

For International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Anne-Marie Imafidon and Sue Black both speak from inside the technology industry on what actually shifts the numbers, which suits audiences who have heard the general case before and want something more practical.

With the Six Nations running through the month and the Super Bowl landing mid-February, it's also a strong window for a sports-led team event. Our rugby speakers and after-dinner speakers cover both.
