Charlie Webster's biography

At a glance

  • First female football host in Asia and global boxing anchor
  • Survived critical illness after cycling from London to Rio
  • International speaker at venues like the US Senate and UN

Charlie Webster is an extraordinary force of nature, serving as an inspiration to many. She is a renowned TV and radio broadcaster, podcaster, TEDx speaker, writer, and journalist who has made her mark globally, working with major TV networks, brands, and charities. Throughout her career, she has achieved numerous world firsts. Charlie made history as the first female football host in Asia and the first woman globally to anchor boxing, including a heavyweight world title fight. However, her most significant battle came in 2016 when she took on the epic challenge of cycling 3000 miles from London to Rio.

Unfortunately, she fell critically ill after contracting malaria and three other tropical diseases. Despite being given only 24 hours to live and being in a coma for two weeks, Charlie fought with the determination of a brawler and made a remarkable recovery. Today, she continues to excel in her profession, doing what she does best. Beyond her media accomplishments, Charlie is a sought-after international speaker. She has delivered keynote speeches at prestigious venues such as the US Senate, the UN, African governments, and the UK Parliament.

Last year, she gave a powerful TEDx talk on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in collaboration with the NHS. In addition, she actively engages with young girls and women, serving as a female changemaker with projects such as UNF's Girl Up, The Female Lead, and Inspiring Girls International. Charlie's impact extends beyond her professional achievements. Her personal battle and her work in raising awareness about domestic and sexual abuse make her a true inspiration. Through her charity work and campaigning efforts, she touches the lives of many, making a positive difference in society. Charlie is undeniably a master in her field, and her resilience and dedication are the inspiration for us all.

How do I book Charlie Webster for my next event?

Email charlie.webster@getapeptalk.com or call PepTalk on +44 20 3835 2929 (UK) or +1 737 888 5112 (US), and one of our speaker agents will contact you within hours to confirm Charlie's availability and fees. If you can, please include your budget upfront – it helps us fast-track your request. It’s also helpful to know the date, format (virtual or in-person), location, and a bit about your audience.

What is Charlie Webster's speaking style like?

Charlie Webster draws on first-person narrative, structuring her keynotes around her documented near-death experience — contracting malaria and three other tropical diseases whilst cycling 3,000 miles from London to Rio — to illustrate themes of resilience and recovery. She anchors broader topics such as PTSD, domestic abuse awareness, and female empowerment to specific, verifiable milestones from her career and survival story.

What topics does Charlie Webster specialise in?

Charlie Webster speaks on resilience and recovery, post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic and sexual abuse awareness, and women's leadership and representation. She has delivered keynote addresses at the US Senate, the UN, and the UK Parliament, and gave a TEDx talk on PTSD in collaboration with the NHS.

Does PepTalk charge a booking fee?

No. PepTalk adds no booking fee, so you pay the speaker's fee and nothing beyond it. The service, from shortlist through to contracts and event-day logistics, is included. For repeat or multi-event bookings, PepTalk can agree preferential rates with your procurement team.

What happens after I send a brief?

Share your event date, audience, format, objectives and budget, and PepTalk sends a hand-picked shortlist within 24 hours. Each suggestion comes with a profile, a fee and a recommendation on the strongest fit. Once you choose, PepTalk handles contracts, travel and logistics through to event day.

What does the typical fee range mean?

The typical fee range is the speaker's standard in-person fee in their home market, shown in their local currency. It moves with format, location, date and session length: virtual sessions and shorter slots usually cost less, while international travel and peak dates cost more. Send your brief to PepTalk and the team will confirm the exact fee in your currency.

Have all the speakers on the website worked with PepTalk before?

Not all of them, and it makes no difference to your booking. PepTalk's network of 15,000+ speakers covers talent the team works with directly alongside speakers represented by agents and agencies worldwide. PepTalk approaches the speaker, negotiates the fee and handles contracting either way.

How far in advance should I book a speaker?

Three to six months ahead is comfortable for most events, and 12 months is better for large conferences, peak-season dates or one specific in-demand speaker. Shorter timelines are workable, and PepTalk regularly fills last-minute and replacement bookings within days. Availability is the constraint, so get in touch as soon as you have a date.
