With expertise in transport engineering, he is a captivating and engaging speaker, sharing his experiences as the first man to drive at supersonic speeds and what motivates him to continually push himself and break records.

In 1997, Andy shattered the Land Speed Record that had stood for 50 years, reaching an astonishing speed of 763.035 miles per hour. This made him the first person in the world to achieve supersonic speeds, a record that remains unbeaten to this day. Additionally, in 2006, he set the diesel Land Speed Record, which still stands at 350.091 miles per hour over a decade later.

For his remarkable achievements, Andy was honored with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1998. He also received the prestigious Segrave Trophy from the Royal Automobile Club, recognizing his exceptional skill and bravery in land, water, and air. Furthermore, he has been awarded the John Cobb Trophy by the British Racing Driver's Club and received an honorary degree from Staffordshire University.

Andy’s journey began with an RAF scholarship to study at Worcester College, University of Oxford, where he graduated with First Class Honors in 1983. He then progressed within the RAF, becoming a Pilot Officer and qualifying as a fighter pilot on F-4 Phantom and Tornado F3 aircraft. Throughout his career, Andy served in operational tours in the Falklands Islands, the Middle East, and Afghanistan, eventually rising to the rank of Wing Commander and Officer Commanding Operations Wing at RAF Wittering.

Currently, Andy is actively involved in the Bloodhound LSR Project, which aims to break the Land Speed Record he originally set. Due to his determination and unparalleled expertise in breaking the sound barrier, he has been selected as the driver for the record attempt. Andy also captains the Royal Air Force Cresta Run team, showcasing his continued involvement in the military.
