Brand By Me is THE anti-racist brand consultancy, helping organisations and brands to embed equity and drive social justice.
Collette started her career in advertising, where she spent a decade at top international agencies before moving brand-side. She has worked with, on, and for a breadth of amazing brands for nearly 25 years - from household names to amazing charities, including Starburst, Clearasil, McDonald's, T-Mobile, EE and Barnardo’s children’s charity.
It was her love of brands and fire for justice that led her to launch Brand By Me in 2016. Today Brand By Me are in high demand for their unique approach with clients such as Wellcome Trust, Amnesty International and Santander.
Collette is also a celebrated writer and speaker featured in Third Sector, Campaign, Forbes and on BBC Radio 4. Brand By Me was named a “Small Business of 2021” by Lloyds Bank and The Times. In 2023, Collette was recognised as one of Campaign magazine's "40 over 40" and in 2024, she was named on the Institute of Practitioners of Advertising (IPA) iList, recognising trailblazers in inclusion.
Collette is co-founder of Join Our Table, a community that celebrates and creates visibility of Black women in the communications industries. She is also Chair of Trustees at Abram Wilson, a music charity that inspires, connects and opens doors for minoritised young talent in the music industry.
From leadership to entrepreneurship, from the power of personal brand to building anti-racist brands, Collette is a straight-talking, vibrant and compelling speaker who will captivate your audience with her changemaker energy!
Topics, sessions and talks
Most brands want to have a positive impact on the world around them, not just to avoid doing harm. However, the fear of getting called out, doing the wrong thing, or being seen as political often stops brand teams in their tracks. Overcome these barriers by equipping your teams to tackle racism proactively, positively and without fear with Collette Philip.
Driving change isn’t easy. But people often relinquish the power they do have, holding back, taking a passive stance and looking to others to take the first step. In this session, Collette Philip explores why we often just stand by and do nothing and teaches your team how to make an impact instead.
Building a powerful personal brand is a useful asset for anyone – but if you’re from a minoritised community, it’s a workplace must. Stereotypes, microaggressions and years of being told you don’t fit in can erode your ability to show up, stand up and be yourself. To combat this, Collette Philip is here to equip, encourage, and empower minoritised communities to build their personal brands authentically.
Entrepreneurs have vision, take calculated risks, take ownership, and are accountable. But you don’t have to run your own business to bring this energy into your career. Learn how to embed the innovative learning and growth mindset of an entrepreneur, no matter who you work for or what you do with Collette Philip.
Purpose and passion are inextricably linked - it’s what excites us which often drives our sense of purpose. Purpose is a journey of discovery over time, finding activities that align with our passions and what the world needs. It’s about having a consistent sense of purpose rather than finding a single, ultimate goal. By connecting our work to the things we're passionate about, Collette Philip is here to help you uncover a meaningful sense of purpose in your life.
Book Collette Philip to inspire your team with her vibrant energy and expertise in building anti-racist brands. Her unique insights on equity and social justice will empower your organisation to drive meaningful change.
