Alexandra Cousteau - Speaker

Alexandra Cousteau is an environmental advocate, filmmaker, and ocean conservationist, following in the footsteps of her grandfather Jacques-Yves and her father Philippe. As a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, she focuses on protecting the world's oceans and freshwater resources.
Inspired by her family's legacy of exploration and conservation, Alexandra has become a leading voice for ocean protection. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Georgetown University and has received honorary doctorates from both Georgetown and Clarkson University.
In 2000, Alexandra co-founded EarthEcho International with her brother, aiming to further their family's mission in science and education. Her career has included significant roles in ocean conservation, such as advising MarViva in Central America and leading Expedition Blue Planet, which explored critical water issues across North America. In 2019, she co-founded Oceans2050, where she serves as president, focusing on restoring ocean ecosystems by 2050. She serves as a Senior Advisor to Oceana, guiding global campaigns to restore marine ecosystems and promote sustainable freshwater management.
Alexandra collaborates with communities, media, and brands to inspire action on environmental issues and works with governments, nonprofits, and businesses to develop supportive conservation policies. Committed to restoring the oceans for future generations, Alexandra believes in the potential for rapid recovery. Her efforts have garnered recognition, including being named a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum
