Dream, train, plan, achieve. Through broken bones, muggings at gunpoint, being locked up, attacked, bitten by dogs, shot at, tears, fears, failures, and suffering, this man persevered and demonstrated incredible resilience to accomplish his dream. He became the first person to run a marathon in every country in the world.
On November 10th, 2019, Nick achieved the remarkable feat of running a full marathon distance in every country, completing this monumental task in just 23 months. Throughout his journey, he traveled alone with his bag for 674 days, running 2 or 3 marathons in 2 or 3 countries every week, for a total of 96 weeks. This incredible world record was the result of over 45,000 miles of running in previous expeditions, years of training, and numerous setbacks.
Following this accomplishment, Nick went on to establish The 196 Foundation, a world-leading charity based on a 'democratic donorship' system. This unique approach involves small donations of just £1.96 per month from many individuals, who have the freedom to choose which cause they wish to support each year.
Nick's book, Running The World, quickly became a bestseller and is currently being translated into multiple languages. Additionally, an audio book and documentary are in the works, set to be released later this year.
While Nick's passion for running is evident, his meaningful messages extend beyond the realm of athletics. His inspirational topics cover a wide range of subjects, including understanding one's potential, embracing failure, perseverance and determination, and appreciating the limited time we have on this planet. Through his personal stories, Nick brings these issues to life with enthusiasm and character.
Although Nick is primarily a runner, his messages resonate with people from all walks of life. He is not on a crusade to get everyone into lycra; rather, he aims to spread the message that anyone, regardless of age, background, or commitments, can excel in any endeavor they set their minds to.
