Rainer Hersch is a British conductor, actor, writer, and comedian known for his humorous approach to classical music. He has toured in over 30 countries and has extensive experience in radio broadcasting, primarily for the BBC. Hersch is fluent in English, German, Spanish, and French. He is married to marketing executive Cornelia Dussinger and resides in London.
Early in his career, Hersch studied Economics at Lancaster University, where he honed his writing skills as a member of the university's student comedy troupe, the Revue Group. After graduation, he pursued a career in comedy, starting as a stand-up performer on the London scene. He then moved into one-man shows, such as 'All Classical Music Explained,' which became a regular feature at the Edinburgh Festival.
In addition to his comedy work, Hersch has formed his own orchestra, the Rainer Hersch Orkestra, and has conducted numerous concerts worldwide. He has also written and hosted programs for radio and television, including for the BBC.
