Steve Womack is a U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas's Third District since 2010. He is a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and serves as Chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee. He also participates in the Defense and Financial Services and General Government Subcommittees. Previously, he chaired the House Budget Committee and the FSGG Subcommittee on Appropriations. Womack is known for his perfect voting record and was chosen by then-Speaker Paul Ryan to preside over the 2016 Republican National Convention. He led the bipartisan Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform in 2018. Before his political career, Womack had a military service, retiring as a Colonel from the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2009 after over thirty years. He was deployed to Sinai, Egypt, in 2002, leading a task force that received high praise. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University and was inducted into the Hall of Distinction in 2014. Womack has received numerous military awards, including the Legion of Merit and the Arkansas Service Medal, and was honored with the Harry S. Truman Award in 2015. He currently chairs the West Point Board of Visitors and lives in Rogers, Arkansas, with his wife, Terri, and their three sons and three grandsons.
