Lord Adair Turner is a prominent expert in global economic trends, finance, macro-prudential regulation, and the Chinese financial system. He is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for New Economic Thinking, where he previously served as chair until January 2019. His insights are sought after on various issues, including Britain's exit from the European Union.
Adair is a respected keynote speaker on topics such as climate change, the transition to cleaner energy, macroeconomic trends, global monetary policy, and the Chinese economy. He chairs the Energy Transitions Commission, a coalition focused on limiting global warming while promoting economic development.
From 2008 to 2013, Adair was Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, where he played a key role in redesigning global banking and shadow banking regulations following the financial crisis. He has held significant public policy positions, including Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (1995-2000), chairman of the UK Low Pay Commission (2002-2006), and chairman of the Pensions Commission (2003-2006). He was also the first chairman of the Climate Change Committee (2008-2012), which advised the UK Government on climate change strategies.

His latest work, "Capitalism in the Age of Robots," is set to be published by Yale in 2022. Adair is a Trustee Emeritus of the British Museum, an honorary fellow of The Royal Society, and received an Honorary Degree from Cambridge University in 2017.
