Beth Rigby is Sky News’ Political Editor and hosts a talk show, Beth Rigby Interviews, on Thursday nights. She is the first woman to hold this position and is a prominent political reporting figure covering events from Westminster and the UK.
Since joining Sky News in 2016, Beth has reported on significant events, including the Brexit referendum, two general elections, the Brexit negotiations, and the Covid pandemic. The Royal Television Society magazine has recognised her as a leading political broadcaster.
Beth began her career as a print journalist, working for nearly two decades as a financial and political reporter. She started at the Financial Times in 1998 and became one of the youngest team leaders when she was appointed Consumer Industries Editor in 2007. During her time there, she covered hedge funds, the City, and global consumer goods, earning awards for her work in the retail sector.
In 2010, Beth transitioned to the Westminster team as Chief Political Correspondent and was promoted to Deputy Political Editor in 2012. She reported the aftermath of the financial crash, the Scottish independence referendum, the first coalition government since the Second World War, and the 2015 general election.
Alongside her reporting, Beth has been a panellist on BBC One’s Sunday Politics Show, appeared on the Andrew Marr Show, and reviewed newspapers for the BBC News Channel. She has also been featured on various programmes, including Channel 4 News and Good Morning Britain. On radio, she presented Radio 4’s What the Papers Say and anchored Week in Westminster.
In late 2015, Beth joined The Times as Media Editor for nine months before becoming Senior Political Correspondent at Sky News. She was promoted to Deputy Political Editor in 2018 and has served as Political Editor since April 2019.
