Chris Blackhurst is a strategic communications advisor and commentator with a background in journalism. Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Blackhurst studied law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, before starting his journalism career. He worked at legal magazines and financial publications before joining The Sunday Times and becoming City Editor of the Sunday Express in 1990. He also worked as Senior Business Writer for The Independent on Sunday and Westminster Correspondent for The Independent.
In 1998, Blackhurst became Deputy Editor of The Independent under Rosie Boycott, and from 2002, he edited the City Pages of the Evening Standard. He was appointed Editor of The Independent in 2011 and later became Group Content Director of the four titles overseen by Evgeny Lebedev in 2013. Throughout his career, Blackhurst has contributed to various magazines and publications, appeared frequently on television and radio, and given public speeches.
Blackhurst has received recognition for his contributions to journalism, including being named London Press Club's Business Journalist of the Year in 2011. He has written books such as "The World's Biggest Cash Machine" and "Too Big to Jail," providing insights into significant events and issues in finance and business.
