Jay Scot Bilas is a prominent figure in sports, education, and entertainment. Born on 24th December 1963, he attended Rolling Hills High School in California, where he excelled in basketball. He then enrolled at Duke University, studying political science while playing basketball under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Bilas had a successful college career, scoring 1,062 points and securing 692 rebounds. In 1985, he represented the USA on the Men's National Select Team.
In 1986, he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA draft. Bilas played professionally in Italy and Spain, becoming a top scorer in those leagues. In 1990, he returned to Duke as an assistant coach while earning his law degree from Duke Law School. During this time, Duke won consecutive NCAA titles in 1991 and 1992.
Bilas began his legal career after obtaining his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 1992. He is currently of counsel to the Charlotte office of Moore & Van Allen, focusing on litigation. His legal work includes defending a costume business against trademark and copyright claims.
In 1995, he joined ESPN as a college basketball analyst and has since become a significant figure in sports media, earning multiple Emmy nominations for his contributions.
