Diane Coyle is the Bennett Professor of Public Policy at the University of Cambridge. She co-directs the Bennett Institute, focusing on research related to progress and productivity. In her latest book, 'Cogs and Monsters: What Economics Is, and What It Should Be’, she examines the challenges facing economics, especially in the digital age. Her current research centres on productivity and economic measurement, questioning what it means for policy to improve the world and how to assess its success. Diane also serves as a Director of the Productivity Institute, a Fellow of the Office for National Statistics, and an expert adviser to the National Infrastructure Commission. Her public service roles include Vice Chair of the BBC Trust and membership in the Competition Commission, Migration Advisory Committee, and Natural Capital Committee. Until March 2018, Diane was a Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester. In recognition of her contributions to economic policy, she received a DBE in the King’s Birthday Honours.
